Abstract

The circular economy has gained popularity in recent years, though it is still understudied among business scholars. In particular, we explore a key feature of circular economy – industrial symbiosis. We explore organizations’ institutional logics, types of exchanges created, and their economic and environmental impacts. We do this using a novel dataset of 3392 organizations developing 4888 exchanges from 2004-2012.
